Scaramanga II
History

My first attempt at a traditional wedge flipper, prehaps the simplest of designs is a late comer to a squad but scaramaga is anything but an easy foe, where it lacks the tough armour, powerful pushing and devastating weapons of the rest of the squad it relies on its large flipper and several unique attributes to make it touch to attack, the most noticable thing being its smoke screen and its use of sonar which allows it to be autonomous. This makes it highly irritating to face, as an opponent will not be able to attacl.

Colour: Golden, specially polished so the smoke will blacken it quickly.

Weight: 100kg

Shape: a wedge, much more squat than before, this is to improve manouverability

Wheels: two broad go-kart wheels inside, give the robot good traction levels and high manouverability and turning.

Ground clearance: 0mm at the front for the flipper plate, the angles at the front sides also cause attackers to go up it instead of under, at the back it is 0.25mm

Weapons: A powerful pnuematic flipper, two canisters at 2500psi run into a singkle reservoir meaning it is the equivelant of a 5000psi flip. The flipper has a large pivot so is very powerful. This time the flipper is set even further back on the machine, and is much larger relative to the whole size. This means that it goes even more up in the air, and can throw better.

Gimics: A smoke screen, a canister of an opaque and relatinvly dense gas is kept at the back mixed with smoke at high temperature and pressure and when the fight begins it releases this to create a cloud of thick black smoke over the robot in about a 5m radius around the robot which will begin to fade about 30 seconds if more gas is not supplied. This incarnation has 3 jet points, one on either side, and one at the back, this has several advantages: firstly the whole cloudis generated quicker. Secondly the cloud is more even, so the shape of the cloud will not give away position, and thirdly the cloud is denser, and bigger, making it mroe difficult to navigate.

This makes scaramanga difficult to target in a fight especially for axes, vertical flywheels and flippers which need to hit their target in a specific place as they dont have a wide area of attack. the problem of this of course is that I cant see where its going either and therefore scaramaga is entirely autonomous, running of a combination of 12sonar emitters and 12 sonar receptaors enabling it to attack despite the smoke. If necessary I can overide the robot if its not working as well as I want it to, and also so I can turn it off by remote controll. This includes sensors on the flipper so it will both attack and self right autonamously.
